43 W&J Student-Athletes Named To PAC Honor Roll

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Presidents’ Athletic Conference released its Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2012 semester on Friday and 43 Washington & Jefferson College student-athletes earned the distinction.

Student-athletes from all seven PAC-sponsored fall sports at W&J were honored.  The PAC Honor Roll features student-athletes who earned a grade point average of at least 3.60 on a 4.00 scale during the fall semester.  A total of 427 student-athletes from the 10 PAC institutions were recognized, led by Waynesburg's 70.

The Presidents’ men’s soccer team highlighted W&J's honor roll members with 10 earning a spot, while the PAC champion football squad was a close second with nine academic honor roll recipients.  The women’s soccer squad had eight honorees and the volleyball team garnered six, while women’s tennis (4) and men’s (3) and women’s (2) cross country were also represented.

Senior women’s soccer player Dawn Murphy (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), junior volleyball player Maura Lyle (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and junior men’s soccer player Sam Sestitio (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) all earned PAC Honor Roll roll laurels for the third time during their careers.
