#7 CMU Blanks W&J In Pittsburgh 3-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon scored twice in the first half and outshot Washington & Jefferson by a 21-5 margin during its 3-0 men's victory over the Presidents on Wednesday evening.  Ben Bryant assisted on all three Tartan goals. 

The Tartans (6-1) opened the scoring at the 9:26 mark on Scott Gerfen's second goal of the season.  CMU took a 2-0 lead into halftime after scoring 13 seconds before the first-half horn on Alex Abedian's third tally of 2012. 

John Crawshaw added an insurance goal 15 minutes into the second half for the 3-0 edge. 

Christopher Madden played the first 70 minutes in goal and made two saves, while sophomore Jon Best (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) posted seven saves in 70 minutes of action for the Presidents. 

W&J continues its week versus nationally-ranked opponents on Saturday when hosting No. 17 Berry (Ga.) at noon at Alexandre Stadium.
