Barno And Marabella Gain All-Region Field Hockey Honor

WASHINGTON, Pa.. – Washington & Jefferson College seniors Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Jennifer Marabella (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) were both named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North Atlantic All-Region Second Team on Thursday.

Marabella earned all-region honors for a school-record third time, while Barno was selected to the all-region team for the second consecutive season.

Marabella, also a four-time All-Empire 8 Conference performer, owns W&J school records for points (128) and goals (59). This fall, she led the team in scoring with 13 goals and one assist for 27 points. Marabella became the first player in program history to record at least 10 goals during three consecutive seasons.

Barno earned All-Empire 8 First Team honors for the second-straight season after totaling 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. She concluded her career tied for the all-time lead in assists at W&J with 21 and third in both points (83) and goals (31).

On Saturday, Barno and Marabella will become the first players in Presidents’ field hockey history to play in the NFHCA Senior Game. The annual match honors 60 of the top players in NCAA Division III. This year’s match will be played at William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.

W&J concluded its season with an 11-8 (4-3 Empire 8) record under sixth-year Head Coach Jomara Coghlan.
