Barno and Marabella Selected To Play In NFHCA Senior Game

WASHINGTON, Pa.. – Senior field hockey players Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Jennifer Marabella (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) became the first players in Washington & Jefferson College history to be chosen to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior Game on Friday.

This year’s Senior Game will be held at William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. on November 17 at 4:00 pm. The annual match honors 60 of the top players in NCAA Division III.

Barno and Marabella were the Presidents’ top scorers during the regular season. Marabella ranked third in the Empire 8 Conference with 13 goals and sixth with 27 points, while Barno was the league’s seventh-leading scorer with 25 points (10g, 5a).

The duo are two of the top scorers in school history as both rank among the top three all-time in both points and goals. Marabella owns five W&J career scoring records, including owning school records for total points (128) and goals (59). Barno is tied for the school record with 21 assists and ranks third in total points (83) and goals (31).

Barno and Marabella were two of four Empire 8 players chosen to play in the Senior Game, along with Kelsey Kimble of Hartwick and Kailee O’Hara of Nazareth.

No. 4 seed W&J (11-7, 4-3) travels to Utica, N.Y., on Saturday for an Empire 8 Conference Tournament semifinal match with top-seeded Stevens at 11:30 am.
