Barno Scores Twice Again As W&J Knocks Off Rochester 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Washington and Jefferson junior midfielder Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) upped her Empire 8 Conference leading field hockey goal total to nine with a pair of goals Sunday and led the Presidents past Rochester 3-1 at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Presidents (7-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 25:25 mark of the first half as sophomore defender Victoria Patrick (State College, Pa./State College) set up junior forward Jennifer Marabella (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) for her eighth goal of the season.  Marabella found the back of the net four times this weekend, including a hat trick Saturday against St. John Fisher.

Anna Dobrzynski tied the match just over two minutes into the second half, but Patrick and senior defender Hannah Lott (Aspers, Pa./Biglerville) assisted on Barno’s first goal four minutes later.

Lott and junior forward Amanda Pflumm (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) assisted on Barno’s second goal with 22 minutes remaining.

Sophomore Harley Straub (Richfield, Pa./East Juniata) held the Yellow Jackets (8-4) off the scoreboard the rest of the way.  She finished with nine saves, including seven in the second half.  Rochester outshot W&J by a 13-6 margin.

W&J begins a four-match home stand Saturday when hosting league foe Ithaca at 1:00 pm on “Think Pink” Day at Cameron Stadium.
