Baroffio Earns PAC Weekly Award

Alex Baroffio

WASHINGTON, Pa. --  Washington & Jefferson College junior wide receiver Alex Baroffio (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Offensive Football Player of the Week on Monday.

Baroffio, who was also selected First Team All-PAC for the second-straight year this afternoon, helped W&J (8-2, 7-1 PAC) claim its 23rd PAC championship by tying a career high with three touchdown catches on Saturday during a 31-14 victory against Waynesburg. Baroffio reeled in 11 passes for 144 yards, including a season-long 62-yard catch that gave the Presidents a two-touchdown lead in the third quarter.

Baroffio leads the conference and ranks 19th in NCAA Division III in catches per game (7.4) and is third in the PAC in receiving yards per game (65.5). Baroffio’s 74 catches this fall are the seventh-highest, single-season total in W&J history.

During his career, Baroffio has accumulated 2,129 yards and 19 touchdowns. On Saturday, he passed W&J Hall of Famer Ryan Silvis ‘01 for fifth on the Presidents’ all-time receptions list with 174. He is only 19 away from becoming W&J’s all-time leader. David Ravida ‘09 owns the current school career record.

W&J will make its 22nd trip to the NCAA playoffs when it visits Baltimore, Md., for a first-round  game against 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins (Noon). The Presidents and Blue Jays will be meeting for the first time.
