Best Claims Second PAC Defensive Honor
WASHINGTON, Pa. - Washington & Jefferson College men’s soccer sophomore Jon Best (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) earned the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week award for the second time this fall on Monday.
Best notched 11 saves in two matches while helping the Presidents to a 1-0-1 mark during the week.
Best made six stops during W&J’s 2-2 tie with regionally ranked Frostburg State on Wednesday and posted his third shutout of the fall against Grove City on Saturday. Best’s shutout total is the highest by a Presidents’ goalkeeper since Brandon Kern also blanked three opponents in 2009.
Best owns the conference’s fourth-highest save percentage (.783) and ranks fifth in goals against average (1.34). He has not allowed a goal during conference play over his last 154 minutes in net.
W&J visits Greenville on Wednesday to face Thiel at 4:00 pm.
