Bishwaty Lands PAC Player of the Week Honors
WASHINGTON, Pa. – For the first time in her career, Washington & Jefferson sophomore Nicole Bishwaty (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) earned Presidents’ Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors.
Bishwaty kicked off her sophomore campaign by totaling 30 kills, 35 digs, 10 blocks and four service aces during a 4-0 opening weekend for W&J. The right-side hitter posted her best game in the 3-1 win over Carlow, racking up nine kills, four blocks and reaching double figures with 15 digs. The Presidents received 15 kills, 21 digs and four aces from Bishwaty during the team’s season-opening night.
Her efforts helped W&J claim the La Roche Volleyball Tournament Championship after starting the year 4-0 for the first time since 1998. The Presidents lost just one set in their four matches, downing La Roche, Franciscan and Oberlin in straight sets.
Washington & Jefferson open the home and conference portion of its schedule Tuesday night (Sept. 10) against visiting Geneva at 7:00 pm.
