C.J. Corcoran Named PAC Field Athlete Of The Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College senior C.J. Corcoran (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week Award on Tuesday.
The award is the first weekly track & field award for Corcoran. She was a two-time PAC Swimmer of the Week during her career with the Presidents’ swim team.
Corcoran claimed a pair of individual victories at the Carnegie Mellon Quad meet on Saturday. She took the javelin title with a long throw of 130’ 3” and tied for first place in the high jump (5’ 0 1/4”) with teammates Erin Oberg (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) and Mara Spina (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi).
Corcoran is the defending PAC Field Most Valuable Player. She claimed the conference championship in the javelin throw and was the runner-up in the high jump. Corcoran became just the second W&J female field athlete to compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship last year, where she finished 16th in the javelin (130’9”). She was also an All-PAC swimmer for the Presidents during the winter.
W&J returns to action at the Westminster Invitational on Saturday (10:00 am).
