WASHINGTON, Pa. - Washington & Jefferson College senior forward Cody Peddicord (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) was chosen to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Men’s Soccer Team on Thursday.
The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men’s Soccer Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011. The Academic All-District ® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Peddicord earned his selection to the all-district team after compiling a 3.50 grade-point average as an accounting major. He is the only player recognized from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
Peddicord has helped W&J earn a spot in the upcoming PAC Tournament and, with a win over Thiel Saturday or a Grove City loss or tie versus Thomas More, a semifinal home game Wednesday night. The Presidents are 10-6-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the league. He is the team’s second-leading scorer with four goals and three assists, while attempting 26 shots.
A two-time Second Team All-PAC choice, Peddicord has produced 17 goals (4 game winners) and nine assists for 43 points in 56 career matches. He is tied for eighth in school history in career points and ninth in career goals.
