Colin Izzo Earns PAC Golfer Of The Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College sophomore golfer Colin Izzo (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week on Tuesday.
Izzo helped the team finish sixth at the Mid-Atlantic Regional at Hershey Country Club with a two-day total of 160 strokes (81-79). Individually, he earned an eighth-place finish in the 73-golfer field.
Izzo leads the team with a 76.3 stroke average during 15 rounds this season. He led the team with a two-day total of 150 (73-77) at the 2011 PAC Fall Championship, the first leg of the PAC Golf Championship.
Last year, Izzo earned First Team All-PAC laurels after taking fourth at the league championship.
The W&J golf team will compete at the Carnegie Mellon Edward Jones Shootout at the Links of Spring Church this weekend in Apollo, Pa., its final tune-up before the PAC Championship on Apr. 23-24.
If the Presidents hold on to their five-stroke lead during the final 36 holes of the PAC Championship, they will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship (May 15-18) at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
