Cross Country Competes at Inter-Regional Rumble
OBERLIN, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin Saturday afternoon. The W&J men scored a 30th place team finish in the field of 31 competing teams, while the W&J women finished in 30th out of 34.
In the 8k men’s race, the Presidents were led by senior Brad Hanne (Conneaut, Ohio/Center) who earned a 97th place finish in the 283-runner field after he posted a time of 27:01.0. Junior Corey Young (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) placed in 209th after crossing the finish line at 28:44.9. Junior Thomas Marcotte (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan) ran a 30:10.2 to earn 248th place and freshman Tyler Miller (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) placed in 260th after he ran a 30:36.6.
Hanne, Miller and freshman Matt Ridge (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) (34:04.8) all set personal records during today’s race.
In the women’s 6k event, W&J freshman Allie Smith (Shippensburg, Pa./Big Spring) led the way after crossing the finish line at 24:19.9 to earn 145th place. Classmate Abby Pristas (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) claimed 206th in the 284-runner field with a time of 25:41.0.
Smith, along with sophomore Nicole Kostocky (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) (27:20.6) and sophomore Lauren Truskey (Coal Center, Pa./California Area ) (29:31.8) also set personal records.
Washington & Jefferson will next compete in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship November 2 beginning at 10:30 am.
