Dave Trushel Named Gold Glove Pitcher

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College junior right-handed pitcher Dave Trushel (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) has been selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III Mideast Region Gold Glove Team.

Trushel is the lone pitcher on the Mideast Region Gold Glove Team and will now be considered for a spot on the national team.

Trushel made 13 appearances on the mound for W&J this year and did not commit an error in 20 chances.  He recorded six putouts and also produced 14 assists.  Trushel also started one double play. 

He posted a 2-5 record and a 5.92 earned-run average in 48 2/3 innings.  Trushel pitched his best game of the season on April 14th in Latrobe, Pa., when he hurled a school-record 12 innings to earn the win against Saint Vincent.

In 40 career appearances (26 starts), Trushel owns a 16-9 record with a 4.41 ERA.  He has logged 181 2/3 innings and has struck out 99 batters.  He has pitched three complete games and recorded a pair of saves.

Washington & Jefferson (19-21 overall) tied for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference regular-season title with Grove City and Thomas More after all three teams posted 15-6 league records.

With Trushel as a member of the pitching staff, W&J boasts a 86-47 overall record (.647), including a 44-13 conference mark.
