Dave Trushel Named PAC Pitcher Of The Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College senior right-hander Dave Trushel (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Trushel earned his second weekly award of the spring by helping the newly 19th-ranked Presidents (24-4, 15-2) to a 5-0 week with a pair of victories on the mound.
Trushel struck out five and allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits during a 3-2 league win versus Thiel on Wednesday.
Against the PAC's second-place team Westminster on Sunday, Trushel tied a W&J single-season record by tossing his seventh complete game. The Presidents claimed a 1-0 win after his two-hit, nine-inning shutout. Trushel struck out a pair and faced just three batters above the minimum for the first shutout of his career. He allowed just two Titan baserunners to reach second base and retired the side in order in 5-of-9 innings.
Trushel is 8-1 with a 1.86 ERA in 63.0 innings and leads the squad with 49 strikeouts. His eight victories are tied for the second-highest, single-season total in school history.
During his four-year career, Trushel has accumluated 24 victories and 148 strikeouts in 244.2 innings. He ranks second in school history in each category and is third all-time with 10 complete games.
W&J hosts a non-conference game against Muskingum on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 pm.
