Dave Trushel Selected as PAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College senior right-handed pitcher Dave Trushel (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Trushel has now earned four PAC Pitcher of the Week awards during his career. He has been honored once during each of the last four seasons (March 19, 2012; April 18, 2011; April 26, 201; April 20, 2009).
Trushel opened his final collegiate season by tossing a pair of complete games last week. His three-hitter on Sunday versus Hamilton (N.Y.) helped W&J open its spring trip to Florida with an 8-1 victory. The win was the 17th of Trushel’s career.
Trushel also threw a complete game earlier in the week when he allowed three runs (none earned) on six hits, while striking out six in a 3-0 loss to La Roche.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder posted a 0.64 earned-run average during the week and struck out 12 batters in 14 innings. He held opponents to a .184 batting average.
In 42 career appearances (27 starts), Trushel owns a 17-10 record in 195 2/3 innings. He has struck out 111 batters and has produced a 4.14 ERA.
With two complete games already in 2012, he has nearly equaled his total of three from his first three seasons with the Presidents. As a freshman, Trushel was 8-0 with a 3.53 ERA.
