WASHINGTON, Pa. – Kiersten Dussinger scored four goals and dished out one assist to lead Denison to a 15-5 women’s lacrosse victory over Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.
W&J (5-3) scored the opening goal of the match after junior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul’s School for Girls) found the back of the net six minutes in, but the Big Red (6-3) dominated from that point.
Denison ended the first half with eight unanswered goals to post a seven-goal lead. Dussinger scored twice in the opening half and added one assist.
The Presidents clawed their way back into the match with the first four goals of the second half. Senior midfielder Brittany Oake (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) netted two goals, while Fradkin and senior attacker Lauren Novak (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) also scored to bring the Presidents to within 8-5 with 21:07 remaining.
However, Denison regrouped and ended the match with seven consecutive goals. Dussinger stopped the Presidents’ rally with a goal at the 20:06 mark and three goals during a two-minute span five minutes later sealed the Big Red triumph.
Ten different Denison players scored, including Lisa Feroli, who also handed out three assists. Grace Bodenmann made eight saves in goal for the Big Red, who outshot W&J by a 29-21 count.
Junior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) made 11 saves for the Presidents.
