WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College freshman Kevin Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Dunigan shares the award with Salem International freshman Jorge Flores.
Dunigan helped the Presidents (4-4) post a 2-1 record this weekend in matches at home at the Henry Memorial Natatorium. W&J earned narrow victories over Penn State-Behrend (12-10) and Salem International (13-11).
Dunigan totaled five goals, five assists and six steals during the three matches. He also drew seven ejections and picked up six steals on the defensive end of the pool.
In the victory over Salem International, Dunigan scored on all three of his shot attempts. He dished out a trio of assists and added one goal during Saturday night’s victory over Penn State-Behrend.
Dunigan has played in all eight matches during his first collegiate season. He has produced 12 goals and handed out seven assists, while recording 13 steals.
On Sept. 15, Dunigan scored one goal during Washington & Jefferson’s 13-10 victory over Division I Fordham. The win was the Presidents’ first-ever against a Division I varsity program. Water polo became a varsity sport at W&J in 1999.
