Dunlap Named PAC Player Of The Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College sophomore center Valerie Dunlap (Hostetter, Pa./Latrobe) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Dunlap helped W&J (5-1, 2-0) to a pair of conference victories last week by averaging 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds. She netted 11 baskets and made 75 percent (8-12) of her shots from the foul line, while collecting nine offensive rebounds.
During the Presidents’ 56-51 victory over Westminster, Dunlap scored 14 of her game high 17 points in the final 20 minutes to help W&J overcome a five-point halftime deficit. She pulled down 14 rebounds, dished out a pair of assists and blocked two shots.
On Saturday, Dunlap posted her second-straight double-double against Thiel with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She also recorded two assists, two blocks and a pair of steals.
Dunlap leads the league in shot blocking (3.0 bpg), while ranking as the second-leading rebounder (10.0 rpg) and 10th-leading scorer (13.3 ppg). She is first on the team in free-throw shooting at nearly 83 percent (24-29) and has handed out 12 assists.
W&J looks to win its third consecutive conference game on Wednesday when Saint Vincent visits the Henry Memorial Center (8:00 pm).
