Eddie Nogay Adds ECAC South Pitcher of the Year Award
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College junior pitcher Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W.Va./Madonna) recently added to his postseason hardware after being selected as the ECAC Division III South Baseball Pitcher of the Year.
Nogay, A D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-American, also earned a spot on the ECAC South First Team after tying for second in NCAA Division III this season with 12 victories. Nogay produced a 12-1 record and a 3.01 earned-run average in 15 appearances (12 starts). He struck out 70 batters (55th in NCAA DIII) during a school-record 86 2/3 innings and fired three shutouts.
The 2013 D3baseball.com Mideast and Presidents’ Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, owns a 22-1 career record and a 2.61 ERA. He won the first 16 decisions of his career and has yet to suffer a loss during one of his 27 starts. Opponents are batting just .245 against him in 199 2/3 innings and Nogay has recorded 129 strikeouts.
Nogay, a NCAA Mideast Region All-Tournament Team honoree, helped the Presidents post a 33-13 record this spring. W&J won the PAC regular-season and tournament championships and placed third at the NCAA Mideast Regional (Terre Haute, Ind.), the highest regional finish in school history.
This summer, Nogay is playing for the Rockbridge Rapids in the Valley Baseball League in Virginia. The league features players from all three NCAA divisions.
Johns Hopkins senior first baseman Jeff Lynch was the ECAC South Player of the Year, while Lebanon Valley first baseman Dylan Tamecki earned the ECAC South Rookie of the Year award.
