Eddie Nogay Earns PAC Pitcher Of The Week Award
WASHINGTON, Pa. – For the second time this season, Washington & Jefferson College junior right hander Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W. Va./Madonna) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Nogay made one start last week, firing five scoreless innings against Geneva to earn his fourth victory of the spring. He struck out five, while allowing just two hits and issuing one walk.
Nogay lowered his conference-leading earned run average to 0.69 for the season. He owns the lowest career ERA in school history at 2.01 and currently has a streak of 13.2 consecutive scoreless innings on the mound. He also had scoreless innings streaks of 26.0 and 18.2 during his career. His 26-inning streak was one frame short of tying the 11th-longest in NCAA Division III history.
Nogay has tossed a pair of complete game shutouts, just one shy of Sam Mann’s single-season school record set in 2005. Opponents are hitting just .129 off Nogay, the lowest mark in the league. He ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Division III in ERA, WHIP (0.54), walks per nine innings (0.69) and hits allowed per nine innings (4.15).
During his career, Nogay is 14-0 in 31 appearances (19 starts) with 79 strikeouts.
W&J returns to PAC play on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Waynesburg beginning at 3:00 pm.
