Eddie Nogay Named PAC Pitcher Of The Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. – After tossing a two-hit shutout during the Washington & Jefferson College baseball team’s season opener against Bethany on Saturday, junior right hander Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W. Va./Madonna) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Nogay struck out six batters, including fanning the side during the third inning, and did not issue a walk. He surrendered only two hits and did not allow a Bison base runner to advance past second base.
The complete-game shutout was the third of Nogay’s career, one shy of tying Mike Trumpower ‘07 for second all-time at W&J. Nogay owns an 11-0 record with 65 strikeouts during 28 career appearances (16 starts) on the mound. His 2.17 earned run average is the lowest in school history (minimum 100 innings pitched).
At 3-0, W&J is off to its best start since 2007 when the Presidents won their first five games. W&J begins its annual Florida Spring Break trip against SUNY-Plattsburgh on Sunday in Lakeland (2:00 pm).
