Falcons Defeat Presidents 20-11 In Washington

WASHINGTON, Pa. –  Notre Dame (Ohio) scored seven times in the second quarter before adding six more in the third period to post a 20-11 women’s water polo victory over Washington & Jefferson on Friday night at the Henry Memorial Natatorium. 

The Presidents (0-7) trailed only 4-2 after the first quarter and closed to within 7-6 late in the second, but the Falcons netted the next four goals to grab an 11-6 lead at the break.  NDC pulled away by scoring six of the third period’s nine goals. 

Four different Presidents provided two goal-efforts: junior Margot Wummer (Havertown, Pa./Germantown Academy), sophomore Sara Boldt (Grand Haven, Mich./East Kentwood) and freshmen Allison Rocha (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) and Rachel Clauss (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena). 

Junior Dana Wieber (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), sophomore Charlotte Lima (Brooklyn, N.Y./Choate Rosemary Hall) and freshman Gabriele Rodriguez (Burbank, Calif/Burbank) all contributed one goal. 

Senior goalkeeper McKenzie Graf (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) made nine saves in the loss.

W&J continues Senior Weekend, its lone home stand of the season, on Saturday with matches versus Mercyhurst (11:00 am) and Grove City (7:00 pm).  Graf will be honored for Senior Night prior to the match with the Wolverines.
