Five W&J Water Polo Players Honored On Academic Squads
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Five Washington & Jefferson College student-athletes recently earned spots on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Women's All-Academic and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women's Varsity Scholar-Athlete teams for their athletic and academic performance during the women's water polo season.
Both teams honored the water polo academic and athletic standouts on three different levels: Outstanding (3.71-4.00), Superior (3.41-3.70) and Excellent (3.20-3.40). In addition, W&J posted a 3.00 team grade-point average, one of only 31 NCAA programs to finish with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
2013 graduate McKenzie Graf (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), rising seniors Dana Wieber (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Margot Wummer (Havertown, Pa./Germantown Academy) and rising juniors Sara Boldt (Grand Haven, Mich./East Kentwood) and Allison Rocha (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) all earned the academic honors. Graf, Wieber and Wummer were landed on the outstanding level, while Boldt and Rocha received superior recognition.
Graf played 18 matches as the Presidents’ goalie this past spring and produced a team-high 90 saves. Wieber led the squad with 23 assists, while Wummer pumped in 29 goals (3rd on team). Boldt, a ACWPC Honorable-Mention All-American, was second on the team in goals (34) and points (45), while Rocha racked up 36 points on 22 goals and 14 assists.
