Fradkin and Oake Lead Presidents To 16-4 Road Win
LOWER GWYNEDD TWP., Pa. -- Junior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) totaled eight points with six goals and two assists to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 16-4 road women's lacrosse victory at Gwynedd-Mercy on Thursday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Brittney Oake (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) added five goals and one assist for the Presidents, who won for the fifth time in six games this spring.
Oake sandwiched two early goals around a Fradkin tally in the first 17 minutes for a 3-0 lead. GMC got on the scoreboard at the 12:30 mark, but Fradkin followed with three-straight goals for a 6-1 lead with 4:56 left in the half.
The Presidents, who led 9-2 at halftime, built a nine-goal lead when Oake scored twice during the first six minutes of the second half. W&J scored eight goals in both halves and outshot the Griffins (1-5) by a 33-17 margin.
Senior midfielder Liz Turcik (Ligonier, Pa./Miss Halls School) added two goals and one assist, while senior defender Kerri Nunnamaker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh), senior attacker Lauren Novak (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) and junior attacker Megan Kelly (South Park, Pa./Seton LaSalle) all supplied one goal.
Junior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) amassed eight saves for the Presidents, who grabbed 15 of the game's 21 draw controls.
W&J remains on the road for a Saturday matchup in Springfield, Ohio, with Wittenberg (4:00 pm).
