Fradkin Fires Home Eight Goals To Lead Senior Day Win
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Senior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul’s School for Girls) totaled 10 points with eight goals and two assists to help Washington & Jefferson earn a 15-11 women’s lacrosse victory on Senior Night Wednesday at Alexandre Stadium.
Fradkin scored the first three goals of the game as the Presidents (4-9), who played the entire game with only 11 players, fired out to a 5-0 lead in the first eight minutes.
The Bearcats (10-4) strung together a three-goal rally to trail 6-4 with 11:33 left in the first half, but Fradkin stopped that run with a goal and added another before halftime to give the Presidents a 9-6 lead.
Saint Vincent closed to within 11-9 midway through the second half; however, Fradkin stepped up once again and fired home her seventh goal at the 13:32 mark. That was as close as the Bearcats would get as freshman midfielder Diana Harvey (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) followed with a goal and W&J earned its fifth win in six tries against SVC.
Fradkin scored her eight goals on nine shot attempts, while adding six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Harvey, senior attacker Megan Kelly (South Park, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) and freshman midfielder Alex Dikos (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) all added two goals, while senior midfielder Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) dished out four assists to go along with one goal.
Senior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) was strong in the net during the second half when she made nine of her 11 saves. The Presidents outshot the Bearcats 27-24.
Alyssa Lang and Hannah Hackman both had four goals and one assist for Saint Vincent, while Michelle Mitchell stopped eight shots in goal.
Washington & Jefferson and Saint Vincent will meet again in less than 48 hours as the two match up in the inaugural Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals at Thiel College Friday at 5:00 pm.
