Fradkin Sets School Record In W&J Rout
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior attacker Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's School) scored a school-record nine goals to help Washington & Jefferson cruise to a 20-1 women's lacrosse victory over Waynesburg Thursday night at Alexandre Stadium.
The Presidents (2-1) led 11-0 at halftime and defeated the Yellow Jackets (1-3) for the sixth consecutive time. The previous school record for goals in a game was established by all-time leading scorer Courtney Schrock '11 when she fired home eight against Waynesburg on April 21, 2011.
The outcome was never in doubt after Washington & Jefferson scored seven times during the first 10 minutes. Fradkin netted three of those tallies, while senior attacker Megan Kelly (South Park, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) contributed two goals.
The Presidents also received three goals from senior midfielder Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and freshman midfielder Diana Harvey (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and two from Kelly. Senior defender Kelsey Closen (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) and sophomore attacker Kelsey Roetenberg (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) netted their first collegiate goals, while freshman attacker Ashley Bulger (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) added one goal.
W&J held a 34-6 shot advantage and grabbed 15-of-21 draw controls. Fradkin recorded five draw controls. Senior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) notched three saves, while JoHanna Phillips finished with nine saves for the Yellow Jackets.
The Presidents are back in action next Thursday at Wooster (5:00 pm).
