Frank Gigler Named To D3football.com Team of the Week

WASHINGTON, Pa. --  Washington & Jefferson College senior defensive end Frank Gigler (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) was selected to the D3football.com National Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for games played on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

Gigler helped W&J defeat Westminster 20-16 on Saturday by supplying six tackles, including four for a loss and two sacks.  His two sacks resulted in a loss of 18 yards by the Titans.  Gigler spearheaded a defensive effort which limited Westminster to 236 total yards and tied a season-high with six sacks.

On the season, Gigler has 22 tackles, six of which have come behind the line of scrimmage (2nd on team).  He is tied for second on the squad with 2.5 sacks.

In 25 career games, Gigler has 78 tackles (23 for a loss) and 12 sacks.  Last month, he was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month.  As a junior, he earned academic all-district laurels from CoSIDA/Capital One.

W&J (3-2, 2-1 PAC) hopes to earn its seventh-straight road victory (dating back to last season) on Saturday when it travels to Latrobe for a 1:00 pm kickoff with Saint Vincent.
