Galligan Adds ECAC Honor To Rookie Award Collection
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Following back-to-back Presidents’ Athletic Conference weekly awards, Washington & Jefferson College freshman Kristen Galligan (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) added the ECAC Division III South Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor on Tuesday.
Galligan was selected after finishing second at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Saturday at Schenley Park. She finished the 5K race in a time of 19:07, helping W&J finish ninth among the 13-team field. A total of 162 runners competed in the event.
Galligan has a trio of top-two finishes in four races this season. She won the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational on October 1 at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds with a 6K time of 23:30.
Galligan looks to continue her standout rookie season Saturday at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble beginning at 11:00 am in Ohio.
