Galligan and Hockman Win Indoor Events At Mount Union
ALLIANCE, Ohio – Washington & Jefferson College senior Taylor Hockman (Martinsburg, W.V./Hedgesville) and freshman Kristen Galligan (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) both won events Saturday at the University of Mount Union’s Jim Wuske Indoor Track & Field Invitational. The meet was unscored for teams.
Hockman continued his strong indoor season by winning the triple jump with a top mark of 42’8 ¾”. Galligan earned her title in the 5,000 meters (18:53.38). She also placed second in the 3,000 meters (10:39.96).
Senior Greg French (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville East) racked up a pair of runner-up finishes after falling just short in the 60-meter hurdles (8.82) and triple jump (42’3 ¼”) events. Junior Gavin Donathan (Hurricane, W.V./Hurricane) rounded out the men’s top finishes with fifth place in the shot put (43’6 ½”).
In addition to Galligan, sophomore Erin Oberg (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) placed second in the high jump (4’11 ¾”) for the W&J women. Classmate sophomore Cheyenne Mangold (Boerne, Texas/Texas Military Institute) took fourth in the 400 meters (1:01.48) and eighth in the 200 meters (27.85).
Both W&J indoor squads will be back in action on Feb. 18 at Capital.
