Gannon Nips Presidents 14-13 In Erie
ERIE, Pa. -- Three Presidents recorded hat tricks, but Washington & Jefferson ended up on the losing end of a 14-13 decision at Gannon in men's water polo action Sunday morning.
10th-ranked W&J (5-6) received three-goal efforts from senior Joey Weiland (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), sophomore Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman Kevin Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn).
Seniors Mike Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and Alex Shuey (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), sophomore Carl Krause (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and freshman Ben McGrath (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif./Loyola) all added one goal. Junior Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) stopped four shots in goal.
W&J travels across the country this upcoming weekend for four matches at the Gary Troyer Tournament starting with a 1:00 pm EDT match with Caltech at La Verne on Friday.
