Gante Delivers Senior Day Win For Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Senior midfielder Jimmy Gante (York, Pa./Dallastown) scored one goal and assisted on the eventual game winner during his final collegiate game to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 4-0 PAC men’s soccer victory over Bethany on Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium. 

The Presidents finish the 2012 season with a 6-7-3 record (4-3-1 PAC), while the Bison wrapped up their year at 5-12-1 (3-4 PAC). 

Gante delivered a pass to sophomore forward Brian Hanna (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) for the opening goal in the 20th minute. 

Junior forward Cody Peddicord (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) netted the first of his two goals in the 32nd minute after receiving a pass from classmate Thad Piscatelli (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township). 

Peddicord lofted a free kick into the box at the 69:32 mark which went through the hands of BC goalie Devyn Bellerive and Gante provided the final margin on a free kick with 9:21 remaining. 

Gante wrapped up his All-PAC career with nine goals and nine assists.  He and teammate David Banko (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) were honored before the Senior Day match. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Jon Best (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) racked up his fourth shutout of the year after making four saves for the Presidents, who outshot Bethany by a 17-6 margin.  Bellerive had seven saves for the Bison.
