Graf and Rocha Earn CWPA Weekly Awards
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College senior goalkeeper McKenzie Graf (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was selected as the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s Division III Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Allison Rocha (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) was named CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week on Thursday.
Graf stopped seven shots, while seeing action in two matches against NCAA Division I opponents at the Indiana Fluid Four Tournament last week. She blocked four shots against No. 19 Michigan and collected three saves during the Presidents’ match with No. 11 Indiana. Graf’s CWPA award is the third of her career after also being named Defensive Player of the Week for the weeks of Apr. 4 and 18, 2011.
Rocha netted her first collegiate goal during the Presidents’ loss to the host Hoosiers on Feb. 24. She added her second tally later that day against No. 10 Long Beach State.
W&J (0-3) returns to the pool on March 2 with a quad meet at Grove City. The Presidents face the host Wolverines (noon), Division I VMI (2:40 pm) and Division II Gannon (6:40 pm).
