Grove City Defeats W&J 3-1 At Henry Center

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) had a team-high 12 kills, but Washington & Jefferson suffered a 3-1 PAC volleyball setback (25-15, 18-25, 25-18, 25-14) to Grove City on Thursday evening at the Henry Memorial Center.

The Wolverines’ record tipped over .500 to 14-13 (5-10 PAC), while W&J fell to 8-17 overall and 3-12 in the league.

Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) posted 11 kills, 22 digs and two service aces, while freshman setter Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) collected 33 assists and four digs.  Sophomore middle hitter Megan Lewandowski (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) amassed seven kills.

Senior defensive specialists Alyssa Vukson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) notched 11 digs and two aces, while classmate Tessa Slifka (Latrobe, Pa./Derry) added 13 digs.

W&J continues conference play on Tuesday at Bethany (7:00 pm).
