High-Scoring First Half Leads Ducks Past Presidents
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Megan Traub scored three times during a nine-minute span in the first half to help Stevens earn a 5-1 Empire 8 field hockey victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.
The Ducks (2-2, 1-0 E8) led 4-0 at halftime after Traub set up Erin Silvestri for a goal six minutes in. Marguerite Chavez then set up all three of Traub’s goals between the 13:49 and the 22:01 marks.
Stevens outshot W&J 10-2 in the opening 35 minutes and by a 15-12 margin for the match.
W&J got on the board 20 minutes into the second half as senior midfielder Catherine Villa (Poway, Calif./Poway) lifted a shot over the Stevens goalie. Junior midfielder Catherine Beaudoin (Barkhamsted, Conn./North Western Regional) assisted on the goal.
However, Chavez netted a goal six minutes later and the Ducks breezed to the conference-opening win. S

W&J returns to action Wednesday night at Wooster (5:30 pm). The Presidents are 3-0 against NCAC competition this year already.
