Holly Shipley Earns NSCAA All-Region Nod
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- For the second consecutive season, Washington & Jefferson College junior forward Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) has been selected to the NSCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region women’s soccer team. Shipley, a third-team honoree, was a first-team choice in 2011.
The 2011 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Year and NSCAA All-American was named to the All-PAC First Team for a third consecutive year last month.
She led the Presidents and was second among all PAC players with 38 total points after producing the league’s second-highest goal total (16) and tying for sixth with six assists. Shipley also led the league in points per game (2.11 ppg) and game-winning goals (5).
Shipley helped the Presidents rank 43rd in the nation in team scoring (2.89 gpg), while finishing among the top 50 players nationally in game-winning goals (39th), points per game (46th) and goals (50th).
She will enter her senior season third in W&J history in points (107) and goals (41) and fourth in assists (25). Shipley has scored at least 12 goals in every season and averages 3.2 shots per match (181 shots in 57 matches). Nearly 28 percent of her 41 career goals have counted as the game winner (13).
Nicole Bosley Bednarski ’01 (61 goals, 157 assists) and Jen Pergola ’06 (59 goals, 142 assists) are the only Presidents ahead of Shipley in the W&J all-time records. Since she arrived on campus, Washington & Jefferson has produced a 38-18-3 record (.669).
