Jessica Sweitzer Named PAC Swimmer Of The Week

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College sophomore Jessica Sweitzer (Laurel, Md./Seton Keough) claimed four individual victories along with a pair of first-place relay finishes last week and was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week on Monday.

The conference award was the second earned by Sweitzer this winter and the third during her two-year career.

Against Saint Vincent last Wednesday, Sweitzer swam to a trio of first-place touches. She set a pair of Resnik Pool records during her victories in the 100 (54.87) and 200 (1:58.46) freestyle events and was also the first to finish the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:33.26.

Sweitzer helped the Presidents defeat Penn State-Behrend 124-71 with three top showings on Saturday. She claimed the 100 freestyle (55.62), while also swimming a leg on the victorious 200 medley (1:58.55) and 200 freestyle (1:46.30) relays.

Sweitzer earned First Team All-PAC accolades as a freshman after helping a pair of Presidents’ relay squads finish with top-three showings at the conference championship meet.

The W&J swimming and diving teams visit Hiram on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
