Mangold's Career Day Lifts Presidents to Blowout Win

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Sophomore forward Cheyenne Mangold (Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas/Texas Military Institute) came off the bench to score a career-high four goals as Washington & Jefferson routed Franciscan 8-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday.

The Presidents (6-3) have won four consecutive matches as they enter Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday morning at Geneva (11:00 am).

W&J scored four goals in both halves against the Barons (4-4) and attempted 31 total shots.

Junior forward Chrissy Marcius (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) started the scoring 2:18 into the match.  Sophomore Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) netted the next two goals and Mangold followed Shipley's second tally 48 seconds later for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Shipley set up Marcius for a goal 98 seconds into the second half and Mangold closed the scoring with three goals in a 12:19 span.

Freshman goalie Heather Betancourt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) and sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Gribowicz (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) split the halves and both made one save.
