Marabella Nets Overtime Winner As W&J Field Hockey Wins Third Straight

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Junior Jennifer Marabella (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) scored the game-winning overtime goal to give the Washington & Jefferson College field hockey team a 1-0 win over Ithaca at Cameron Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Marabella received a crossing pass from junior Arielle King (Dover, Del./Milford) and found the back of the net just under four minutes into overtime.  Marabella is now tied for the team lead with nine goals.

W&J upped its record to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 Conference play, while Ithaca fell to 2-8, 1-3.

Sophomore goalkeeper Harley Straub (Richfield, Pa./East Juniata) made four saves to earn her third shutout of the season.  Bombers goalkeeper Kelly Singleton stopped 12 shots.

The Presidents return to Cameron Stadium next Saturday to face Nazareth at 12:00 pm.
