Marabella Ties School Career Goal Record In Rout Of Elmira

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Junior forward Jennifer Marabella (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) scored twice and tied the Washington & Jefferson College career goal record during the Presidents’ 5-0 Empire 8 field hockey shutout at Elmira on Saturday afternoon.

Marabella upped her career goal total to 42, tying Beth Kelley ’07 for the W&J all-time record.  Marabella added an assist to bring her career point total to 92, just eight shy of Kelley’s school record.

Junior forward Amanda Pflumm (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) opened the scoring five minutes into the match off a pass from senior defender Hannah Lott (Aspers, Pa./Biglerville).
Marabella set up junior Arielle King (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) for a goal three minutes later for a 2-0 advantage.  Marabella then scored twice less than two minutes apart late in the half for a 4-0 lead heading into the locker rooms.

Junior midfielder Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff), who assisted on Marabella’s first goal, netted the lone goal of the second half.

Senior Shelby Colyer (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) collected her third-straight victory, two of which have come by shutout, by making three saves.   The Presidents outshot the Soaring Eagles (2-12, 2-4) by a 30-5 count.
