Marcius and Marucci Team Up For Game-Winner Late as Presidents Nip Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio -- Junior forward Chrissy Marcius (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) set up freshman forward Tatum Marucci (Youngstown, Ohio/Poland Seminary) for the lone goal of the match with 3:51 remaining to give Washington & Jefferson a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer triumph over Marietta on Wednesday afternoon.

Marcius crossed a ball into the box and Marucci beat Marietta goalie Kaitlyn Pearse to provide the late heroics.  Marcius entered the match tied for eighth in the nation in assists.  

Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Saussol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made six saves to record the shutout.  W&J outshot the Pioneers (1-5-1) by a 21-9 margin and attempted four of the match's five corner kicks.

The Presidents (4-3), who have won back-to-back matches by a 1-0 score, host Carnegie Mellon in their next match Saturday at noon.
