McGrath’s Game Winner Helps W&J Top PS-Behrend 9-8
ERIE, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College sophomore Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) posted his second four-goal game of the day to help the 10th-ranked Presidents hold off Penn State-Behrend 9-8 in men’s water polo action on Saturday night at the Junker Center.
Freshman Ben McGrath (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif./Loyola) scored the game winner for the Presidents (5-5) with 2:24 remaining. He finished with a pair of goals.
Seniors Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Mike Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and sophomore Carl Krause (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) all contributed one goal. Junior Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) and sophomore Chris DeNunzio (Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury) both notched four saves.
W&J remains in Erie for tomorrow morning’s 10:00 am match with Division II Gannon.
