Men’s Lacrosse Names 2013 Team Captains
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Dan Usaj has named the Presidents’ three team captains for the 2013 season.
Seniors goalie Ran Kirby (Cleveland, Ohio/University School), attackman Joe Eck (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) and defender Ryan Cronin (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) will serve as team captains this spring.
Kirby will start in goal for the fourth consecutive season. He has amassed at least 128 saves during all three years, including single-season, school-record 200 a year ago. Kirby has been in the net for 13 W&J victories and owns a career .574 save percentage.
Eck has a chance to become the school’s all-time leading scorer as he is third in W&J history in both goals (92) and points (123). He could pass Zach Devilbiss ’09 for the all-time goal record with 31 this season and needs 56 points to pass Andrew Wallick ’12 for the career total point mark.
Cronin has been a steady force on the defensive end for three seasons, having played in 34 career matches. He has scored two goals and added five assists, while collecting 87 ground balls.
Usaj will coach his first game at W&J as the Presidents’ third-ever head coach in Greenville, Pa., at Thiel on Feb. 23 (1:00 pm).
