Nate Bellhy Ranks Among National Leaders

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College sophomore forward Nate Bellhy (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) ranks among the top 25 NCAA Division III men’s basketball players in three statistical categories this season.

Despite missing two games due to injury, Bellhy is tied for second in the nation with six double-doubles. He is the only player in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference that is averaging a double-double per game at 19.1 points (3rd in PAC) and 10.7 rebounds (1st in PAC).

Bellhy also ranks 15th nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.500) and 25th in rebounding. During the Presidents’ 92-82 victory at Thomas More on Saturday, Bellhy drained 7-of-8 three-point attempts as he poured in a career-high 37 points. He also added 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double.

Bellhy is shooting 81 percent (30-37) from the free-throw stripe, while collecting 16 assists, six blocks and three steals in seven games. He is playing his first season at W&J after transferring from NCAA Division II Seton Hill. His brother Zach is the team’s leading scorer (19.3 ppg), while his sister, Beka, averages 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in her first year with the W&J women’s team.

W&J returns to action on Monday at Hiram. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
