Ohio Wesleyan Shuts Out W&J 1-0
WASHINGTON, Pa. – For the second consecutive game, the Washington & Jefferson women’s soccer team was kept off the scoreboard, suffering a 1-0 loss to Ohio Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
The Presidents begin the year 0-3 while the Battling Bishops improved their record to 2-1. The difference maker came at 21:52 when an attempted clear in front of the net by W&J found its way past the goal line for the Ohio Wesleyan score.
W&J outshot the Battling Bishops in each period, including a 6-2 margin in the second half, but OWU keeper Hannah Zacharias made the saves she needed to in order to preserve the shutout.
Morgan Kinyon (Stockton, Calif./William Jessup) started in goal for the Presidents and played all 90 minutes. Four different W&J student-athletes recorded two shots apiece in the game.
Washington & Jefferson remains at home this Wednesday (Sept. 11) for a 7:00 pm match against Carnegie Mellon.
