PAC Champion Baseball Team Helps W&J Set School Record For Spring Academic Honor Roll
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A school-record 57 Washington & Jefferson College student-athletes were recently named to the 2013 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2013 semester. Coupled with the 41 honorees from the fall season, 98 W&J student-athletes were recognized for academic achievement by the conference this year.
The PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes on winter or spring sports teams who earned a grade-point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.00 scale this past semester. A total of 421 honorees were recognized, including a league-high 58 from Waynesburg. Both W&J and Grove City garnered 57 honor roll members.
A total of 15 Washington & Jefferson athletic teams had at least one team member selected. The PAC champion baseball team led the college with nine honor roll members, while the women’s track & field squad recorded eight award winners. The women’s basketball, women’s swimming & diving and men’s track & field teams all had six.
Three PAC athlete of the year awardees and three All-Americans were awarded for their academic achievement. PAC Women’s Diver of the Year and First Team All-PAC golfer Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley), PAC and D3baseball.com Regional Pitcher of the Year and All-America selection Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W.Va./Madonna), PAC Women’s Track MVP and NCAA All-American Cheyenne Mangold (Boerne, Texas/Texas Military Institute) and NCAA Wrestling All-American Josh Etzel (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward) highlighted the W&J honor roll recipients.
