Peddicord’s Five Point Game Leads W&J to First PAC Victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington and Jefferson College men’s soccer team defeated Westminster 4-1 on Wednesday at Alexandre Stadium behind sophomore Cody Peddicord’s (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) career-high five point game.
Peddicord got the scoring started for the Presidents (4-6, 1-1) in the 23rd minute when he headed a shot into the net off a long feed from freshman James Calvert (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell).
Junior Jimmy Gante (York, Pa./Dallastown) gave W&J a two-goal halftime advantage when he ripped a shot from 40 yards out off a set piece that made its way through traffic in front of the goal and into the back of the net.
In the 55th minute, Peddicord stole the ball from a defender and cranked a shot from the top of the box that beat Titans (3-8, 1-1) goalkeeper Joe Bonish for his second goal of the game.
Peddicord finished off his big night by sending a perfect lead pass to freshman Brian Hanna (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area), who netted his fifth goal of the season.
W&J travels to Saint Vincent on Sunday for a 1:00 pm game with the Bearcats.
