Potts Posts Perfect 3-0 Mark At Gettysburg Duals

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Senior heavyweight Taylor Potts (Wellsburg, W.Va./John Marshall) collected a 3-0 record, but Washington & Jefferson dropped all three of its matches Saturday at the Gettysburg Wrestling Duals.  The Presidents suffered team setbacks to Hunter (37-12), Gettysburg (25-23) and Washington and Lee (22-15). 

Potts defeated Leon Bodden of Hunter by a 5-2 margin and also topped Kevin Poplaski of Gettysburg 3-2.  In the Washington and Lee match, he earned a victory by forfeit. 

Sophomore Josh Etzel (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) posted a 2-1 record at 141 pounds.  He opened with an 8-6 triumph against Hunter's Sean Messiana and then rolled past Gettysburg's Tony Stanell 14-3.  Etzel was upended by W&L's Connor Duffey 6-5. 

In the Gettysburg match, the Presidents received a pinfall victory from freshman Theron Mitchell (Mount Joy, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) at 197 pounds.  He took down Marshall Puls one second before the first period ended. 

The Presidents (1-4) will be back in action Wednesday evening when hosting Waynesburg for a PAC match at the Henry Memorial Center.
