Presidents Add To Longest Win Streak Since 2009
SALEM, W.Va. -- Washington & Jefferson College, the 10th-ranked team in the CWPA Division III Varsity poll, notched its highest goal total in three years during a 22-13 men's water polo victory at Salem International University Sunday afternoon.
The Presidents (7-6) won their fifth-straight match, the program's longest streak since 2009. W&J's 22 goals were the most since the 2010 Presidents racked up the same total on Caltech on Oct. 9, 2010.
W&J defeated Salem International for the second time this season behind a five-goal effort from sophomore Kevin Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn). Junior Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) totaled four goals, while juniors Carl Krause (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and Ben McGrath (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif./Loyola) both supplied three goals.
Freshmen Hayden Young (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) and Patrick Fredrick (San Francisco, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) added two-goal games, while junior Conor Crowe (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and freshmen Josh Apple (Pennridge, Pa./Pennridge) and Emmet Pierson (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) rounded out the goal scorers.
W&J heads to the west coast this week for six matches in three days starting with Thursday's game at Caltech (8:30 pm EDT).
