Presidents Drop Two Matches at Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team dropped a pair of Presidents’ Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, 3-0 to Grove City and 3-1 to Saint Vincent.
In their first match of the day, the Presidents (11-6, 3-6 PAC) dropped a straight sets decision to Grove City (11-8, 5-4 PAC) by scores of 19-25, 24-26, 18-25. Immediately following the match with the Wolverines, W&J fell to Saint Vincent (10-10, 4-4 PAC) in four sets, 23-25, 25-17, 17-25, 17-25.
Senior Tori Clark (Fall Branch Tenn./Sullivan South) picked up eight kills versus Grove City, while freshman Taylor Freeman (Cresson, Pa./Penn Cambria) recorded eight against Saint Vincent.
Junior libero Sarah Stedina (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) racked up 40 digs between the two matches, including a career-high 22 versus the Bearcats. Classmate Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) compiled 16 kills and 13 total blocks (5s, 8a) for the Presidents.
The setter combination of junior Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and freshman Michealia Skleres (Andover, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) dished out a combined 59 assists. Stoehr registerd 19 assists versus SVC while Skleres led the setter efforts against GCC with 22 assists.
Washington & Jefferson continues PAC play when it travels to Westminster this Tuesday (Oct. 15) for a 7:00 pm matchup against the Titans.
