Presidents Ease To Season Sweep Of Bethany

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College field hockey team scored four times in the first 15 minutes and cruised to a 10-0 victory over Bethany on Wednesday night at Cameron Stadium.

Freshman Allison Morrissey (Chalfont, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph) and junior Tori Patrick (State College, Pa./State College) led the Presidents (10-6) with two goals each.  Morrissey’s pair were the first two of her career, while Patrick also added an assist.

Senior Amanda Pflumm (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) contributed a goal and two assists, while freshman Natalie Paul (Novi, Mich./Novi) also collected the first goal of her collegiate career.

In total, eight different players scored for W&J and 10 tallied at least one point. The Presidents recorded 31 shots on goal, one short of a season-high set against the Bison earlier this season.

Bethany (1-12), which is playing its first year of varsity field hockey since 1990, was led by goalkeeper Jacqueline Harrison’s 19 saves.

W&J hosts the Empire 8 leader Stevens on Saturday at 10:00 am.  The Ducks are unbeaten (5-0) in conference play this fall.
